It is worth visiting the forest of the Kourkouniotis area, where eleven wine presses have been restored out of the 120 that used to operate on the island, as Symi had an important tradition in viticulture until the 18th century.
The hiker should start early to avoid the midday heat. The route has plenty of greenery, while it is scattered with small churches.
